NaNoWriMo Kick Off! Tips for Making Time to Write.

So today Nanowrimo is kicking off! That means that hundreds of thousands of people across the globe are starting their goal of writing 50,000 words in a month. So, today I want to give a few tips for making more time for writing.

1. Turn off the Tv.

Sure, everyone thinks they can multi-task with the TV on but if you really want to focus on writing then you need to turn off the TV and just write.
2. Get off the internet.
Turn off the internet and write. Seriously, do your research at another time.
3. Pick a time to write and stick with it.
Starting a schedule is a great way to keep at writing. If you write at 7pm every day then eventually it will become a habit. It’s a great way to get yourself in the habit of writing every day.
4. Connect with other writers.
One of the best things about Nanowrimo is the amazing group of people that are there for you to meet up with. Many areas have groups that meet and write. There’s also countless forum boards, twitter tags and facebook pages to meet other writers. Embrace it!
5. Write.
The simplest and hardest part of writing is butt in chair doing the writing. So, as much fun as everything else is, the truth of the matter is the only way to get writing done (whether for Nanowrimo or something else) is to sit your butt down and write.
