Happy 2013!

I hope that you had a very Happy New Year’s Eve! I was lucky enough to be able to spend it with some of my best friends, laughing, and having a blast.

Now today is the first day of the New Year and they say that what you do today will set the tone for what you do for the rest of the year so make sure that you use the day wisely!

I leave you with a wish for the New Year from one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman.

Thanks for this! Wishing you the best in 2013.

That last bit reminded me, nerdily, of Gandalf, and what he says about the everyday deeds of ordinary folk keeping the dark at bay. I just saw the Hobbit movie, and while I don’t think that quote was in the book, I’m pretty sure they lifted it from elsewhere in The Lord of the Rings.

Which brings me to why 2012 was so awful. I have re-read LOTR at least once a year ever since I was eleven. I didn’t do it last year!! I resolve to continue the tradition this year, school be damned… 😉

Wishing you a great 2013! There’s a surprising number of things in this world to be optimistic about, if you look for them.

I love that quote! I am so sorry you didn’t get to read it this year that’s sad! Hopefully 2013 will fix this!
And yes, there is so much to be optimistic about if we take the time to look.
